Milk Union, Faridkot came into existence with twin objectives of providing remunerative prices to milk producers in the district by value addition, providing technical input services for milk production enhancement and supply of quality milk and milk products at competitive rate to its valuable customers at their door steps.

The union was registered under Coop. Societies Act on dated 17.03.1979 bearing registration No. 231.  The Milk Procurement process commenced in the year 1981 under the control of Milk Union, Bathinda. However, MU Faridkot started functioning independently w.e.f. 21.01.1985.

The Milkshed area of Faridkot comprises 589 No’s of Villages of old Distt. Faridkot, currently includes District Faridkot, Moga-I & Shri Muktsar Sahib. MU Faridkot has its two own Milk Chilling Centers, one at Doda in District of Shri Muktsar Sahib and second at Baja Khana in District of Faridkot having chilling/storage capacities of 20,000 LPD each. Milk Union is also collecting milk at Sadiq by hiring ice factory having Chilling/Storage capacity of 15,000 LPD. Milk Union has also established two BMC’s having capacity 5000 Ltrs. each at MCC - Aulakh in a hired building of Gram Panchayat, Aulakh having Chilling/Storage capacity 20,000 LPD. Milk Union, Faridkot has installed BMC's of 1000 to 3000 LPD capacity in different villages in the Milkshed area mainly in Bagha Purana to cool the milk instantly at village level for maintaining its quality besides installation of various equipment for milk testing in its Milkshed Area.

The first Board of Director of Milk Union Faridkot was nominated by the Registrar Cooperative Societies in the year 1985. But in the year 1986 the Union constituted its first elected Board of Directors by adopting the process of election. The union is constantly progressing to strengthen Village Based Coop. System to improve socio-economic health of Milk Producers by undertaking various schemes & projects i.e. Clean Milk Production (CMP), National Dairy Plan (NDP-I) & Financial support from NABARD for formation of Producers Organization (PO) under valuable guidance & support from Milkfed and financial assistance/grant from Govt. through NDDB.
